Minimalist House Renovation Tips

Lately, minimalist concept is one of the most frequently used concept for Indonesian houses. Minimalist house usually features neat, clean, and simple look. Therefore, geometric shapes are usually applied in house structure, decoration, and furnitures. Eventhough this kind of building has simple form, the renovation should still be done well. You could implement these tips for a more effective minimalist house renovation:

  1. Preserve the Building’s Minimalistic Concept

Minimalist concept is the safest concept to use for your small sized house. Therefore, when it comes to renovating a minimalist and small sized house, avoid changing the concept of your building. If you insist on changing the concept, make sure to renovate and change the concept of the whole building rather than only renovating some specific rooms. This will prevent your house from looking messy and complicated.

  1. Maintain the Composition of Furnitures in the Room

When renovating minimalist house, remember to maintain the composition of furnitures in the room. Houses with minimalist concept usually do not have many furnitures, because excessive furnitures could make the room look smaller and disturb the minimalist appearance of the room. Therefore, when renovating minimalist house, make sure to avoid adding extra furnitures to the room, especially if the furnitures are not functional at all. If you want to modify the appearance of the room, you could replace your old furnitures with some new ones that have the same function.

  1. Use A Suitable Wall Color

There are a lot of important points that you should pay attention to during minimalist house renovation. One of them is wall color choice. Pay careful attention to the paint color you are going to be using for the room, as wall color could affect the whole room’s appearance and atmosphere. Go for minimalist and neutral colors, such as white, grey, brown, and other bright neutral colors. The usage of too bright and vivid wall colors could make the room look too full.

  1. Make a House Renovation Plan

To avoid excessive spending during renovation, prepare a renovation plan beforehand by listing the house areas to renovate in detail, and what kind of renovation should be done to those areas. Houses with minimalist concept usually accentuate their neat and simple appearance. Therefore, to avoid excessive renovation, make sure to make a renovation plan first and do the renovation as planned.

  1. Give a Unique Touch to the Room

One of the characteristics of houses with minimalist concept is the use of simple furnitures with neutral colors. However, this could make the room look monotonous and boring. To prevent the room from looking monotonous, you could add a unique touch to the room that could show your personality. For example, if you are into handycrafts, you could place a handcrafted decoration in the room. That unique touch will not disturb the whole appearance of the room, but could make the room look unique instead.

Beside the tips mentioned above, the main construction materials could also affect the whole look of minimalist houses, including house walls. Minimalist houses usually feature neat and simple look, so they do not use many furnitures and decorations, which makes the wall stand out. For a stronger and more durable wall, make sure to use premium quality cement such as Semen Merah Putih.
