Decorative candle holders are available in various shapes and materials, such as wood, glass, plastic, and cement. The price offered also varies according to the model and color. Besides buying a new one, you could also get creative and make your own candle light holder at home using cement by following these simple steps:

  1. Prepare the Tools and Materials Needed

Before starting the process, do not forget to prepare the tools and materials needed, i.e. plastic mold for candle holder, a container for mixing cement, cement mixing tool, scissors or knife, used bottles, sand or rocks as a ballast, water, vegetable oil, and of course some cement. For candle holder mold, use a thin plastic container because this container will be cut open later. As a substitute for used bottles, you can use any container which has the same diameter as the candles you will be using. Remember to always place a ballast inside the container so it does not shift during the process.

  1. Put Cement Mixture Into The Mold

After preparing the tools and materials needed, mix some cement with sufficient amount of water in cement mixing container, mix them well and pour the mixture into candle holder mold until the cement mixture fills about ¾ of the container. Fill the bottle with rocks or sand as a ballast, put a layer of vegetable oil on the bottle and put it on top of the cement mixture. Press the bottle slowly until it reaches about halfway inside the mixture. Adjust the hole depth with the candle that you will be using. Let it dry for 1-2 days.

  1. Take the Dried Cement Out and Give Finishing Touches

After the cement has completely dried, open the container by cutting it open using a pair of scissors or a knife, and take the bottle off the cement mold. Covering the bottle with oil makes it easier to take off after the cement mold has dried. To smoothen the cement mold, use a sandpaper and rub it on the edges and any uneven parts. After you are satisfied with the shape, you can start decorating. You could begin by coloring the cement with some paint, drawing specific patterns, or by adding decorative ornaments, such as laces and ribbons to enhance the look of your candle holder. Wait until the decorations are completely dry, and your cement candle holder is ready to be used.

Decorative candle holder might look small, but adding this decoration could  give a dramatic impression to the room. Decorative candles are usually placed inside the bedroom, family room, or living room. When it comes to choosing candle holder shape and model, make sure to pay attention to the room concept, so it could enhance the concept of your room.
